Matsuura MX-330 Changed the Manufacturing of Precision Parts

Elliott Matsuura Canada customer, DM Precision, recently purchased an MX-330 PC10 5-Axis Vertical Machining Center. Their 10,000 square foot facility is located in Dunnville, Ontario Canada. Being a modern CNC machine shop allows DM Precision to specialize and master the machining process of tight tolerances, small components and complex configurations.

In business since 1960 and a Matsuura customer since 1985, DM Precision has proven itself time and time again as one of its leaders in custom machining. DM Precision has established a successful reputation for machined parts in the science research, medical and telecommunication industries.

“Matsuura’s automation makes us more versatile to switch from one job to the next, and allows us to maximize every minute of the day, running 24/7, and still keeping the high quality, stable processes to machine parts,” said owner Chad Plath.

The Matsuura MX330-PC10 allows companies to schedule high-mix/low-volume parts with moderate to longer lead-times and exploit the automatic pallet changer with limited employee involvement. It is configured with ten pallets and 90 tools. The machine allows for companies to have 5-axis Matsuura automation within the reach of all budgets.

The MX-330 delivers machining center versatility with a standard Matsuura-made high accuracy spindle of 15,000 RPM with 48 ft-lbs. of torque. Optional 15,000 RPM with 88 ft-lbs. of torque and 20,000 RPM with 80 ft-lbs. of torque are available.

The MX-330 with 10 pallets and 90 tools provides hand-built quality, reliability and precision engineering. Ideal for the medical and aerospace industries and other high precision components, the MX-330 offers an easy transition from 3-Axis to 5-sided or 5-axis production and  is excellent for small parts, but can handle parts up to ø13” X H11.8” and weighting up to 177 lbs. It is compactly built requiring floor space of only 6.1 ft. wide by 10 ft. long and ensures high-rigidity with a generous machining area and a table loading capacity of 177 lbs.

The machine’s maximum work envelope is D330 mm x H300 mm, with an optional D420 mm x H 300 mm. The MX-330 is designed with a RAM type structure, which offers a compact and highly durable machining platform. Available tool magazines include: standard 30 tool drum and optional 60 and 90 tool chains.
