Craig St. John, President of Matsuura USA, Announces Retirement

St. Paul, MN (December 6, 2021) — After 40 years of distinguished service in the machine tool, automation and additive manufacturing industries, Craig St. John has recently announced plans to retire from his position as Matsuura Machinery USA’s President on December 31, 2021.

Since Craig was named President in 2015, Matsuura Machinery USA has maintained accelerated growth and performance, while continuing to deliver innovative, high-quality products to customers. Craig also built an industry leading team and culture, that together position Matsuura Machinery USA for continued success.

Under Craig’s leadership, Matsuura USA expanded its customer base and more than doubled its St. Paul, MN workforce.

Craig’s contributions to the success of Matsuura Machinery USA are fully recognized and appreciated by Matsuura Machinery Corporation. Craig has been an extraordinary leader, helping drive the company’s strategic direction, expanding our growth profile and overall financial strength.

Craig was also instrumental in launching the company’s LUMEX series, a powder bed metal AM platform with machining capability, and Matsuura’s Metal Additive Manufacturing Service Bureau, which provides the production of 3D Metal printed and machined parts.

Craig’s passion, technical knowledge, and drive for excellence, along with his contributions to Matsuura, the industry, and the community. We wish him a happy and well-deserved retirement.

Prior to joining Matsuura Machinery USA in 2015, Craig served as President of C St John Capital Equipment Consulting in Brea, CA. As a consultant in all areas of CNC Machine Tool and Robotic Automation, St. John provided services to many machine tool distributors, builders, and end-users.

Craig also held a variety of leadership positions with Ellison Technologies, including President of the company’s Minneapolis office, President of Ellison’s Rebuild and Used Machinery operation, Corporate Director of Business Development, Executive VP of Ellison’s LA office and two years each with Ellison’s automation and accessories divisions.

An engineer by training, Craig earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Southwest Minnesota State University.
