Matsuura and KUKA Demonstrate the Power of Connected Automation at IMTS 2026

MX-520 to showcase how advanced machining and robotics work together to support modern manufacturing operations.

St. Paul, MN (September 9, 2026) – Matsuura Machinery USA and KUKA will demonstrate the value of integrated automation at IMTS 2026 through the presentation of the MX-520 5-axis machining center and the integrated Waybo E-Max 20 Robot Loader within KUKA’s Booth 236807 in the North Building, Level 3.

The collaboration highlights how machine tool technology and robotic automation can work together to support manufacturers seeking greater efficiency, flexibility, and consistency across their operations.

The automated machine loader was equipped with KUKA’s KR CYBERTECH industrial robot to automate part loading and unloading, demonstrating how standardized robotic automation works seamlessly with a machine tool to support more productive, consistent and flexible manufacturing.

As part of Matsuura’s Precision with Purpose campaign, the demonstration reflects a broader industry shift toward connected manufacturing solutions that help organizations address workforce challenges, improve productivity, and optimize production workflows.

The MX-520 has earned a reputation as a versatile 5-axis machining center capable of supporting a wide range of applications and industries. Integrated with KUKA’s automation expertise, the demonstration will showcase how manufacturers can combine proven machining performance with automated material handling and process support technologies.

The E-Max 20 is a 20 kg payload robotic loader and machine-tending automation system designed for Matsuura CNC machining centers. As a modular system, it seamlessly pairs with machine tools and robotic hardware while simplifying robot programming. Its compact footprint supports extended lights-out machining in high-mix, low-volume environments while reducing operator intervention and part-change times.

The fenceless robot loader comes pre-wired and with standard assembly for easy, fast installation, with each drawer holding up to 100 kg. It includes a drawer feeding system that is configurable with one to four drawers and measures 640mm x 800mm x 150mm.

With a payload of up to 35 kg, the KR CYBERTECH series offers high-performance industrial robots designed for handling, assembly and machining applications with exceptional speed, precision and flexibility. Featuring compact designs and high payload capacities, these robots are optimized for space-saving operation in various manufacturing environments.
