HERITAGE: 85 YEARS OF MANUFACTURING SOLUTIONS

Matsuura's 85 Year HeritageSt. Paul, MN (October 8, 2020) — In Matsuura’s more than 85 years of providing manufacturing solutions and new technologies, we remain true to our heritage and founder’s promise to customers in 1935:

“We will make you proud to say, I OWN A MATSUURA.”

At Matsuura Machinery USA Inc., we honor our founder, the late Toshio Matsuura’s philosophy and his promise to customers in 1935. We continue to build upon and innovate within our organizational structure, enhancing production efficiency, and creating next-generation businesses.

Matsuura’s founder was an engineer strongly committed to manufacturing and developed unique know-how and technologies. Yet, at the same time, he clearly discerned the trends of the times and developed and introduced history-making machines to the market.

One such example is Japan’s first mass-production vertical machining center (MC), the MC-750V. This very machining center is where the history of Matsuura machining centers starts. In the late 1970s when mainstream products had spindle speeds of 4,000 RPM, Matsuura developed a high-speed spindle capable of 20,000 RPM; this was a breakthrough for the world of manufacturing.

In 1986, Matsuura established their position in the world as a manufacturer of high-speed machining centers by introducing the FX-5 to the market. Then in 1991, predicting the need for reducing working hours, Matsuura developed the 5-axis MC MAM72 series capable of unmanned operation for 72 consecutive hours and ushering in and defining a new age of unmanned palletized and fully automated pallet pool CNC machining production.

In 1998, Matsuura developed the LX-1, a linear-motor machine concurrently featuring ultra-high-speed and high-precision performance. Over the years Matsuura continues to refine technologies and deliver them to market, offering solutions that no other manufacturer can.

Matsuura conducted research on laser technologies in 1998 and focused on developing metal laser sintering. After creating a prototype in 2002, Matsuura introduced the world’s first hybrid metal 3D printer, the LUMEX 25C, to the market in 2004. Then in 2006, Matsuura began selling a fully redesigned model named the LUMEX Avance-25.

As a manufacturer of machine tools which are fundamental in the manufacture of other machines, Matsuura is committed to all necessary tasks associated with being the creators of “Mother Machines.” Matsuura’s machine tools are used around the world as machines for manufacturing other machines in various settings, including research institutes, and in a wide spectrum of production environments ‒ from one-off prototypes, to small varied-batch runs, to large-scale mass production.

Matsuura proudly received the Taguchi Award from the Robust Quality Engineering Society in 2015. Matsuura is only the second company to receive this award since its establishment.

Matsuura’s continued success is based on their exceptionally skilled workforce, offering traditional craftsmanship combined with state-of-the-art engineering principles and total commitment to excellence in product design, innovation, and manufacturing.
