Welcome to our employee spotlight series, featuring profiles on Matsuura team members. Get to know Matsuura’s Executive Assistant, Kristine Albrecht:
How long have you worked with Matsuura and what does your job entail?
I started in September of 2013 as a Temp (under a 4-week assignment). I was offered and accepted a full-time position in November of 2013. I would say the three major components of my job involve HR Coordination, Event Coordination, and Office Management.
What is a memorable moment at Matsuura? I really enjoy working in Chicago for IMTS. It’s always so crazy and exhausting, but it’s when I can work closest with many of my colleagues. I remember one year during booth setup while I was running around, and one Engineer turned to me and asked: “what do you need help with, boss?” I thought to myself ‘wow, here’s one of our best and brightest Engineers who has been working so hard (physically and mentally) to ensure all of our machines are setup properly and he took the time to stop and help me out. We are truly a team looking out for each other!’
What is a career lesson you have learned thus far? I have learned that things may not always go as smoothly as expected so you should always have a backup plan (or two or three). Prepare for the worst, hope for the best!
What is your favorite part of your role at Matsuura? I like being the “go-to” person when it comes to anything in the office. I always smile when someone walks into my office and says “I am not really sure who to go to for this, so I am asking you . . .” For the most part, I know who to go to or what steps need to be taken to help them out.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t Matsuura’s Executive Assistant? I originally went to school for Graphic Design, so I imagine I would have gone more-so in that direction. Though, luckily I am able to use my skills to help Matsuura in developing design formats for various projects.
What do you do when not at Matsuura? Spend time with my close friends, family, and my boyfriend of 5 years. We enjoy golfing and playing tennis.
What is a fun fact many people do not know about you? I am not a sprinter, but could run for miles and it’s like meditation for me. I was training for a marathon in February of 2020 before the pandemic hit. I have run a half marathon, but still have never run a full marathon. I am hoping to start training for one again next year.
