Significance of Accuracy in 5-Axis Machining

As the mission of a company manufacturing machine tools, i.e., “Mother Machines” used for manufacturing other machines, we are committed to manufacturing that achieves accuracy in microns in all processes from parts production, assembly, inspections, up to the final assembly, inspection, and testing.

The video above demonstrates the 5-axis accuracy measurement on the MX-330. Matsuura Machinery is proud of not only the accuracy, but also the rigidity and durability of our products.

Any slight machining errors which arise through production are finely adjusted by the hands of our experienced engineers to achieve the ultimate and maximum attainable final accuracy. The measurement incorporated into Matsuura’s assembly process is the cornerstone of longevity and machine accuracy that customers experience for decades.

A micron is a unit of measure in the metric system equal to 1 millionth of a meter in length (39 millionths of an inch). The average cross-section of a human hair is 50 microns. With a tolerance for error a fraction of the width of a human hair, a machine needs to be not only powerful, but precise.

For reliability and longevity of Matsuura machines, we utilize on average, 2 hours to assemble one linear guide. Our machines are made with high grade rigidity and highly accurate components.

Only the finest components are considered in the design stage of any Matsuura Product. The Cone Cutting Test, a standard for testing the capability of a 5-axis machine tool, can be demonstrated on any Matsuura 5-axis Machine – with accuracy and deflection results always scoring under 10 μm.

We are constantly focused and committed to total accuracy. Final assembly is carried out by the hands of experienced engineers who embody the traditional craftsmanship for which Matsuura is renowned.

Moreover, we have been implementing quality engineering based on the Taguchi Method since 1996, conducting research on manufacturing and product development in light of the customer’s point of view. Taking pride in these efforts, we mark our spindles with the MAXIA brand logo – your assurance of premium quality, longevity of performance, and design.
